Senior Marine Ecologist / Consultant
The following will be essential to be considered for this post:
• A minimum of 5 years professional or post-graduate experience in marine consultancy or research;
• Proficient in the use of ArcGIS for survey design and producing report quality mapping;
• Experience in reviewing geophysical data for habitat mapping purposes;
• Experience in analysing and reviewing seabed imagery;
• Demonstrable experience in writing high quality technical and research reports;
• Experience conducting coastal and offshore environmental sampling;
• A willingness to participate in coastal and offshore surveys aboard our survey vessels or third party vessels;<
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word;
• Proficient in conducting statistical analysis in PRIMER, R or similar; and
• A minimum of a degree in a marine environmental discipline.
Desirable skills/experience include:
• In date offshore safety qualifications and medical certification;
• Post-graduate qualification(s);
• Experience in conducting seabed habitat mapping including predictive modelling;
• Chartered Scientist status with a professional body / learned society
• Demonstrable activity in the publication of peer-reviewed research;
• Powerboat and VHF certification;
• Advanced skills in manipulating large volumes of data in R, Python or similar;
• Knowledge of programming and / or development of web applications.
This position will be located at our offices in Epney, Gloucester but will require the successful applicant to occasionally undertake coastal and offshore survey work for periods ranging from a few days to several weeks at a time. Part-time remote working may also be considered.

• Familiarity with thematic mapping in ArcGIS;
• Familiarity with conducting statistical analysis;
• Demonstrable experience in preparing technical and research reports; and
• A minimum of a degree in a marine environmental discipline.
Desirable skills/experience include:
• In date offshore safety qualifications and medical certification;
• Experience in analysing seabed imagery;
• Proficient in the use of ArcGIS for producing report quality mapping;
• Experience in reviewing geophysical data for habitat mapping purposes;
• Post-graduate qualification(s);

Marine Taxonomist
The following will be essential to be considered for this post:
• Demonstrable expertise in identification of macrobenthic and epibenthic species across all phyla found in the NE Atlantic;
• An appreciation of the need to work to tight timeframes within a commercial laboratory setting;
• Experience working to NMBAQC standards and projects involving external quality control;
• A conscientious and enthusiastic attitude;
• A clear and demonstrable passion for marine taxonomy; and
• A minimum of a degree in marine biology (or similar marine related discipline).
Desirable skills/experience include:
• Experience creating and maintaining reference collections;
• Experience in analysis and interpretation of seabed imagery;
• Experience in zooplankton, phytoplankton and/or freshwater invertebrate identification;
• A willingness to participate in intertidal and coastal surveys aboard our survey vessels or third party vessels;
• Experience in identification of macrobenthic species from tropical, sub-tropical and/or cold water environments;
• In date offshore safety qualifications and medical certification; and
• Marine Mammal Observer and/or Passive Acoustic Monitoring qualifications

Laboratory Technician
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to provide general laboratory assistance and to fulfil a role in processing of marine sediment samples. Key responsibilities will include undertaking Particle Size Distribution (PSD) by dry / wet sieving and laser analysis, Total Organic Carbon (TOC) analysis and Ash Free Dry Mass (AFDM) as well as assisting with the day to day running of our laboratory facilities.
You will also be required to assist in maintaining our participation in the PSA component of the NMBAQC scheme and ensuring analysis is conducted in line with our MMO validation. Assistance with coastal and offshore survey work may also be required on occasion.

• Experience in working a in commercial or research laboratory;
• An appreciation of the need to work to tight timeframes;
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel;
• Strong organisational skills;
• A conscientious and enthusiastic attitude;
• A minimum of a degree in a scientific discipline.
Desirable skills/experience include:
• Experience in handling and processing sediments and / or soils;
• Experience in processing biological samples;
• A willingness to participate in intertidal and coastal surveys aboard our survey vessel or third party vessels; and
• In date offshore safety qualifications and medical certification
