Late last year Ocean Ecology was appointed by Sofia Offshore Wind Farm Limited to act as its marine ecological consultants for the development of the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm (SOWF) (previously Dogger Bank Teesside B). The 1.4 gigawatt SOWF project is sited on the shallow central area of the North Sea known as Dogger Bank and is currently progressing through the latter stages of development. Following its appointment, Ocean Ecology has been providing specialist advice and services to innogy relating to the development of its benthic monitoring plan, mapping of sensitive seabed habitats and routing of the export cables to minimise potential impacts during installation. The provision of this ongoing advice is set to continue throughout 2019 and on to the start of construction, indicatively planned for Q3 2022.
