Earlier this year, Michael Redford was promoted from Laboratory Manager to a new position – Head of Analytical Services.
As well as responsibility for the entire range of laboratory services we provide, the new role encompasses other analytical offerings, including image analysis. He is also tasked with the development of our service provision through monitoring market and sector potential to facilitate growth.
He landed the role after two and a half years with Ocean Ecology who he joined after finishing his PhD. During this time, he developed a reputation for driving forward departmental productivity and laboratory standards, which makes him eminently well suited to his new role.
Technical Director Ross Griffin said: “The new position reflects the significant growth of the company and the new challenges we face but it will allow Michael the chance to really flourish.
“He has a tenacious appetite for development through innovation, networking and simple hard graft.
“And from a technical perspective, I often find it hard to keep up with him which is exactly what I want from someone in this position. He certainly keeps me on my toes!”
Given this accolade, it was hardly surprising that Michael was given the ‘Trail Blazer’ award at the 10 Year Anniversary. But he’s a little more circumspect about these achievements,
“Much of the development has come naturally as part of my day-to-day role, made possible by fantastic support from the wider analytical team,” said Michael.
“By driving expansion and development, the company grows and provides new opportunities for us all. Ocean Ecology continues to be a very exciting company to be a part of and I’m looking forward to building on our current successes.”
