We played a key role in the ecological assessment of one of the UK’s first floating offshore wind farms in the Celtic Sea. Commissioned by Blue Gem Wind as part of the wider Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) led by OWF / MarineSpace, we undertook extensive marine ecological surveys across the project area.

Scope of Work

We conducted marine ecological survey work spanning the intertidal zone to the main array area, providing:

  • Detailed habitat mapping: comprehensive mapping of seabed and intertidal habitats across the project area.
  • Baseline environmental reports: production of habitat assessment and environmental baseline reports to inform the development process.

These efforts were critical in ensuring a robust understanding of the project’s ecological context, supporting environmental compliance and the sustainable development of this pioneering renewable energy project in the Celtic Sea.
