We were proud to support the Crown Estate-funded POSEIDON benthic sampling project, led by Cefas. We were selected to deliver key elements of this ambitious project (Lots 1, 3, 4, and 5), conducting comprehensive marine surveys across UK waters.
Project highlights
Lot 1: Southern North Sea
Our team collected 375 samples for macrobenthic, particle size distribution (PSD), environmental DNA (eDNA), and total organic carbon (OCN) analyses, extending to the 150 nautical mile limit. All macrobenthic and PSD analyses were performed in our NMBAQC-accredited laboratories.

Lot 5: English Channel
Spanning 113 stations, this survey extended from the waters south of the Isle of Wight to south-west Cornwall. Each station was pre-screened using drop-down camera (DDC) imagery because of the the presence of rock features, followed by sampling for macrobenthic communities, sediment properties, PSD, eDNA, and OCN analysis.
Lot 3: Celtic Sea

Covering 157 stations, this survey extended from offshore south-west Cornwall to west Pembrokeshire. Using DDC imagery for initial screening, we collected samples for detailed macrobenthic and sediment analysis, PSD, eDNA, and OCN assessment.
Lot 4: Southwest Waters
This survey focused on 40 stations off the coast of south-west Cornwall and beyond the Isles of Scilly. Following the same rigorous methodology, we ensured high-quality data collection and analysis.
