Congratulations to Giulia Ferranti who has been promoted to Financial Co-ordinator at Ocean Ecology.
It’s been an eventful few years for Giulia since moving to the UK with her family from north-east Italy in 2019, just before the pandemic.
“I chose to study a four-year Accountancy degree because I’m organised and enjoy following processes through from start to finish,” she said.
“I was drawn to Accountancy for the clarity it provides and understanding how money flows in and out really appealed to me.
“Starting here was really easy. Everyone was so welcoming. We had socials and barbecues. I quickly connected with people and when I had completed my course, I stepped into the role full-time.”

But in her two years at Ocean Ecology, her experiences have been anything but routine.
“We’ve welcomed Ecospan, Tritonia Scientific and now Shoreline Surveys and we’re also integrating with DNV … it’s been very interesting. My role has evolved to focus on improving our systems and processes. We are always finding better ways to work.”
Giulia’s also taking professional accountancy qualifications with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
“It’s two-and-a-half more years. Rob Stebbings, Regional Finance Manager at DNV and OE board member, is my mentor and he’s really encouraging.”
It doesn’t leave her with a lot of free time but when she’s not working, she is fit and active.

“I play rugby but that’s on hold for now and I go to CrossFit – which is great,” she explained.
“And I also love spending time with my dog Bob who is full of energy.”
